The Health Foundation

Shaun is a Research Manager at the Health Foundation, an independent charitable organisation working to build a healthier UK, where he oversees funded research and evaluations to support innovation and improvement in health and care services. Shaun leads a series of initiatives to ensure good practice in research and evaluation funding, including the previous development of a new two-stage funding process for Health Foundation open award programmes. Shaun co-leads the work on the Health Foundation’s impact framework, designed to capture and share the outcomes and impact of the Foundation’s work, and co-convened the Impact Frameworks and Cultural Change conference, bringing together a global audience to discuss best practice in impact evaluation and strategy. Shaun is involved in the management of the Foundation’s portfolio of large-scale research funding initiatives and infrastructure awards and led a recent quinquennial review of a £40m infrastructure grant made by the Health Foundation to establish The Health Improvement Studies (THIS) Institute, based at Cambridge University. Shaun is also a Visiting Senior Fellow at RORI, where he is leading the scoping and development of a programme of work to explore future funding models which aim to accelerate and expand access to funding for research and development. Shaun is a member of the Forum for Tackling Bullying and Harassment in Research and Innovation and sits on the Advisory Group for the Research on Research registry and community hub.
