Ellen Weber, Editor in Chief, is a Professor and Vice Chair of Emergency Medicine and practicing clinician at the University of California, San Francisco. She has practiced emergency medicine in both community and teaching hospital settings and previously served as Medical Director of the UCSF Emergency Department, Her primary research focus is health care delivery, particularly ED utilisation, operations and quality both in the US and internationally. She has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Sheffield, UK where she conducted research on the four-hour target, and has just returned from a clinical assignment in the ED at Muhimbili Hospital in Tanzania. She also conducts research on peer review in scientific publication. Prior to her appointment as Editor in Chief for the EMJ, she was a long-standing member of the Editorial Board at the Annals of Emergency Medicine and also served on the Board of Directors of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.
